Self Defense starts with being aware, aware of where you are, aware of who is around you and aware of what is happening around you. Sgt. Jacquelyn Persiani is a Deputy Sheriff with Roanoke County’s Sheriff’s Office and she’s been on a mission to educate citizens on how to stay safe. Through her work with the sheriff’s department, Sgt. Persiani teaches classes to individuals, organizations and companies, showing them how to protect themselves.

Sgt Persiani has seen women in these classes regain confidence and regain control of their lives. In this edition of Sisterhood of the Second Act, Sgt. Persiani, shares tips on how NOT to become a victim.
