Virginia artist, Susan McLaren love music. It had been a lifelong hobby until she suddenly lost her hearing. McLaren was heartbroken that she no longer had that creative outlet. Her life changed with a chance meeting of an old high school friend. This friend re-introduced her to painting, which not only feeds her soul but the ones of her clients as well.
Trying something new
McLaren found solace in painting it helped her make peace with the loss of being able to perform music. At first it was using watercolors to express herself. The Virginia artist soon dabbled in acrylics and then gouache. You can see more of her work in the New Moon Network Shop .
Virginia Artist
This is the first episode in our new series, “Meet the Artist.” We are lucky to partner with fine artists who allow us to share their work on the Sisterhood of the Second Act set. Look for more features on international potter and sculptor Carlos Dowling, and painters Bobbie Canton and Leah Coffman.
The New Moon Network
New Moon Network seeks to create entertaining, enlightening, and inspiring films and series. We strive to create content that has a positive impact on our community both locally and in the broader sense of the viewers watching from anywhere in the world.
Our programming is regionally sourced with universal appeal. Our live streamed music show, Roots2Rock draws viewers from all over the world. R2R invites viewers into our unique venues and inside our music culture.
New Moon Network health and wellness programs offer fact-based information to help individuals build healthy lives–mentally, physically, personally, and professionally.
Our “Hyper-Local” public affairs programming is a genre that is becoming a rarity. That is because national corporations are buying local stations and print media. As a result, local newscasts and print are filling their programs and papers with stories outside our region instead of local content. We seek to fill this void offering content with local faces and landmarks.
