

Shingles and Pneumonia Vaccinations


As we age our immune system may weaken opening the door to illnesses such as shingles or pneumonia. Both have vaccinations that can help prevent the conditions. Dr Patricia Dell is an osteopathic physician who practices family medicine at New Horizons Healthcare in Roanoke, Virginia. She talks with host Kathy Heberle about who should get these vaccinations and what conditions may prevent you from getting them.
Affordable Housing
Housing cost both to own or rent are on the rise and so is homelessness in the Roanoke region. Researchers have found a third of all households in the state are cost burdened, which means they’re spending more than 30 percent of their income for housing. This is the case throughout the state of Virginia.

She has spent her career focusing on housing, working at the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority and serving on the Roanoke City Planning Commission before coming to TAP. She and TAP are working with other regional organizations and businesses to find a way to create more affordable house.
